WHAT SHOULD I ENTER THE DIELINE AWARDS?

By entering The Dieline Awards you have the opportunity to be recognized globally for any winning entry. Winning entries will be featured in depth on TheDieline.com, and linked back to the winning designer or agency website. The Dieline is the most visited website on package design in the world. 

 

 

WHAT ARE THE CATEGORIES? 

 

BEST OF SHOW

The highest scoring project in the competition will be awarded Best of Show. 

 

EDITOR'S CHOICE AWARD

One Editor's Choice Award will be handpicked by The Dieline's founder Andrew Gibbs.

 

SUSTAINABLE PACKAGING AWARD

One Sustainable Packaging Award will be awarded by the judges to highlight innovative contributions to the field of sustainable package design.

WHERE WILL THE THE DIELINE AWARDS PRESENTED CEREMONY BE HELD? 

The Dieline Awards Ceremony will be held at The Dieline Conference 2014 at HOW Design Live 2014 in Boston on May 15th. 

 

 

WHEN WILL THE RESULTS BE MADE PUBLIC? 

The Dieline Awards winners will be revealed at The Dieline Conference 2014 at HOW Design Live 2014 in Boston on May 15th. Winners will be published on The Dieline on Friday, May 16th, along with a press release announcing the winners to all media.

 

 

WHAT PROJECTS CAN BE ENTERED INTO THE DIELINE AWARDS?

Any consumer package design project created, produced, or launched in retail between Dec 1st, 2012 and Dec 31st, 2013. The Dieline Awards will not accept works that are considered to be plagiarisms. All works submitted must be photographs or digital renders of packages. Concept work, unpublished prototypes, speculative, or unpublished creations are not accepted under any category except Student. 

 

 

WHO CAN ENTER THE DIELINE PACKAGE DESIGN AWARDS? 

The Dieline Awards are a worldwide competition with entries accepted internationally. Student projects may enter the Student Category only. 

 

 

WHAT IS THE FINAL DATE TO ENTER MY PROJECT INTO THE DIELINE PACKAGE DESIGN AWARDS? 

The competition will open on November 10, 2013. 
Entries will be closed on February 21st, 2014. There will be NO extension of the registration deadline. 

 

WHAT IS THE ENTRY FEE? 

  • EARLY BIRD - Nov 10th - Dec 20th:  $95 individual / $110 multi-category product line
  • FULL REGISTRATION - Dec 21st - Jan 31st: $115 individual / $130 multi-category product line
  • LATE REGISTRATION - Feb 1st – Feb 21st: $135 individual / $150 multi-category product line
  • STUDENT CATEGORY - Nov 10th - Feb 21st: $85 

 

WHAT IS CONSIDERED AN INDIVIDUAL PROJECT?

Individual Project:  An individual project is considered a package design system for one product or brand. It may include variations of the same product, such as flavor, size, or color. An individual project may contain multiple SKUs within the same category

Example: A single chocolate bar design, a line of energy drinks, or a line of cosmetics.

 

WHAT IS CONSIDERED A MULTI CATEGORY PRODUCT LINE

 Multi Category Product Line: If your product line consists of products within multiple categories that are part of the same brand, please select Multi Category Product Line. 

Example: A private label brand that consists of bath products, food, and beverage (i.e. Kirkland, Waitrose, TESCO, Williams Sonoma). 

Projects comprised of more than one item, within the same category, are considered an individual project. Ex. A line of wine bottles, or a line of cereal. 

 

CAN I ENTER INDIVIDUAL PROJECTS FROM A MULTIPLE CATEGORY PRODUCT LINE?

Yes, you may also enter individual products from your line as individual entries in their respective category for one individual product entry fee.

WHAT DO I NEED TO SUBMIT ALONG WITH MY PROJECT? 

In order to successfully enter your project, you will need to gather the following items:

1. Your Full Name (First and Last)

2. The name of your company, agency, studio or school

3. A physical address. This can be your company, agency, studio, or home address.

4. Photos of your project. Please note that your first upload should be the one that best represents your project. 

5. Short description of your project. This should include: who designed the project and who the client is. A description of what type of product it is and the creative inspiration behind the packaging.

6. A website address 

7. Phone number

WHAT FORMAT IMAGES ARE ACCEPTED?

All images must be JPG format in RGB, with a maximum file size of 750KB.

 

HOW WILL THE WORK BE JUDGED?

The Dieline Awards are judged by a highly esteemed panel of 10 industry experts, and awarded based on quality of Creativity, Marketability, and Innovation. No judge may vote on his or her work. 

Debbie Millman, President Emeritus of AIGA and President of Design at Sterling Brands, serves at the chairwoman of the judges.

WHAT WILL THE WINNERS RECEIVE?

 

BEST OF SHOW

The highest accumulative score among ALL entries will be awarded the "Best of Show" winner. The Best of Show winner will receive one complimentary Big Ticket to HOW Design Live 2014 and The Dieline Conference. A 20 minute case study on your winning project to be presented at The Dieline Awards 2014 Ceremony at The Dieline Conference/HOW Design Live.The Best of Show winner will also receive a one-of-a-kind Best of Show award. Each year we design a unique award; no two will ever be the same. 

 

EDITOR'S CHOICE 
One entry will be awarded the Editor's Choice award, handpicked by Andrew Gibbs, Founder + Editor In Chief of The Dieline. Editor's Choice winner will receive one complimentary Big Ticket to HOW Design Live 2014 and The Dieline Conference 2014. 

 

SUSTAINABLE PACKAGING AWARD
Sustainable Packaging Award winner will receive one complimentary Big Ticket to HOW Design Live 2014 and The Dieline Conference 2014.

WHEN WILL THE WINNERS BE NOTIFIED?

Winners will be notified at the end of April 2014.

 

WILL IT BE POSSIBLE TO OBTAIN ADDITIONAL TROPHIES?

Yes, the winners may order additional trophies.

 

WILL THE WINNERS BE ADVERTISED?

Press releases will be sent to the principal design, marketing, communication and packaging magazines throughout the world. Each winner will have the right to communicate personally about his/her The Dieline Award. Winning designs will be showcased on TheDieline.com.

WHAT IF I ENTER A PACKAGE DESIGN THAT WAS DESIGNED THROUGH THE COLLABORATION OF A DESIGN AGENCY AND A COMPANY?

Enter the brand or project name in the "Project Name:" field. Include the design agency and company name in the "Company/Agency/School:" field.

 

DO I NEED TO SEND PRODUCT SAMPLES TO ENTER?

No, you only need RGB .jpg images at a maximum size of 750kb for now. If you are selected as a winner, you will be asked to submit samples.

 

HOW CAN I PAY FOR MY ENTRY?

We process our payments through Paypal, which accepts PayPal Balance, bank account, credit card, PayPal Credit, and debit card.
